Our President

space Mary Lou Stewart

Mary Lou Stewart, the director of Stewart's Caregivers, recognized the benefits of live-in care when friends acquired caregivers to help elderly parents. Through her friends' experience, she realized the service could be done better, with more support for caregivers and employers.

"Given my international background in business, I could see the frustration created by agencies that did not adequately screen, match and support their caregivers and clients.”

“I have almost 30 years’ experience in business, most of it customer-service oriented, and I knew I could do better. I established Stewart’s Caregivers, which is committed to giving families and caregivers the professional, honest and supportive service they need.”

Stewart's Caregivers gives you:

  • A stress-free application process. Stewart's either handles or guides you through all the required paperwork to come to Canada.
  • Careful matching of your skills and aptitudes with your new employer.
  • Complete support for you to help you build a new future in Canada.

Although Stewart's Caregivers serves clients across Canada, one of the company goals is to promote in-home care to the growing population of seniors retiring to the Vancouver Island region. Stewart's is centrally located in Nanaimo, B.C., the hub city for the island.

“Vancouver Island has been described as the 'Hawaii' of Canada. We have the mildest climate in Canada, with very little snow and plenty of sunshine. We even have a few palm trees growing in Nanaimo.”
