To assist Canadians who engage a live-in caregiver to help them cope with an ongoing physical or mental disability, the federal government offers a disability tax credit certificate.
Those who are eligible receive a tax credit of up to $600 per month, which may be applied against the cost of a live-in caregiver.

To offset the cost of live-in domestic help, Revenue Canada allows parents to claim substantial deductions against the income of the family’s lower income earner.
