Clubhouse Members' Services

For Caregivers coming into Canada, we offer an optional extra Clubhouse Membership. Your membership in the Caregivers Clubhouse entitles you to the following services.

1. Phone assistance 24 hours-a-day, 7 days a week for two years.
2. Help and guidance with all the steps to bring you to Canada, including all the paperwork.
3. A welcome at the airport who will give you immediate support and assistance
4. Immediate access at the airport to a phone card so you can immediately phone your relatives and tell them you have arrived safely in Canada; assistance in acquiring a cell phone within 48 hours so you can give family and friends your new Canadian phone number.
5. Accommodation in the clubhouse so you can rest following your trip, with Filipino foods available, and a stocked fridge and pantry should you feel hungry overnight.
6. An orientation kit to welcome you to Canada and information on your employer so you quickly become familiar with your new home and community.
7. An orientation on British Columbia so you become familiar with the province, its climate, its people and its major communities.
8. Opportunities for instruction in environmentally-friendly housecleaning methods at the Clubhouse. This training sets you apart from other care givers and reflects commitment to environmental protection.
9. Canadian cooking lessons. This will teach you basic entertaining skills and how to prepare for a dinner party.
10. Training on Canadian traditions, habits and traditional Canadian holidays, including trimming of the Christmas tree and cooking a festive turkey dinner
11. Instruction in management of a Canadian household, including shopping at local grocery stores and specialty stores (butcher, bakery, produce, health food and hardware); and accessing services like the post office, dry cleaners, pharmacy and health care resources.
12. Information on using the local transportation systems, including the bus, taxis cabs, and ferry system
  13. Help in getting your B.C. learner’s driving license (L7) by providing your Learner's Book and explaining the licensing process.
  14. The opportunity for professional driving instruction from Young Drivers of Canada so you become a safe Canadian driver.
  15. For caregivers remaining in B.C., we will enroll you in the B.C. Medical Services Plan. We will assist other caregivers in obtaining their Canadian medical coverage.
  16. A membership list with names and phone numbers, so you can connect with other women and make new friends
  17. Parties on special occasions, such as Easter, Thanksgiving, Hallowe'en, Christmas, New Year's Eve, and Summer Dances in July and August.
  18. Access to an ocean view club house where you can meet your other members on your days off to socialize and for dinner, Karaoke evenings, birthday parties, special occasions, or to celebrate any national festivals.
  19. Helping ensure you experience a safe and supportive work environment. If your employment is not working, we will pick you up and provide accommodation until we can find you a new employer.
  20. Ongoing support and help until you receive permanent resident status in Canada.
  21. THE CLUBHOUSE GUARANTEE
If you, as a clubhouse member, experience a problem with your employer, we will intervene on your behalf to help resolve the problem. We will also assist you with no-charge accommodation at the clubhouse until another placement is arranged.

All of these services and this specialized training are offered to those who choose to enroll in our Clubhouse. We want you to succeed and believe our clubhouse services will ensure your success as a Canadian caregiver.

PLEASE NOTE THAT MEMBERSHIP IN THE CLUBHOUSE IS NOT REQUIRED TO OBTAIN EMPLOYMENT AS A CAREGIVER IN CANADA. OUR CLUBHOUSE SERVICE IS AN OPTIONAL EXTRA SERVICE WHICH WE HAVE DEVELOPED TO ASSIST THOSE CAREGIVERS INTERESTED IN JOINING.
